Ying Scholar Competition
We have online Ying Scholar registration this year – see below.
TWO SCHOLARSHIPS for Upstate NY students!
Application deadline: February 10, 2012 for both online registration and submission of paper
Finals: March 17, 2012 at Onondaga Community College, Syracuse
Every Senior Research Student in the Ying TRSEF is eligible for this scholarship contest. Using your Ying TRSEF science fair project, you now add a chance for one of TWO $1000 scholarships to your opportunities!
What is involved? You submit a single PDF that includes your abstract, a scan of the certification form, a 10-page version of your science fair report, and a recommendation from your science teacher. In the online registration, you talk about the process and the people who shared this path. Finally — and most uniquely — you consider the potential of your work to make the world a better place!
Dr. Ying offers these scholarships because he believes that you could transform the future IF aware of your own potential. So … he will invite distinguished judges to review your applications and reports. Three to five Ying Scholar Finalists will be invited to Syracuse for the Final Round on the Saturday of Fair Weekend. Those judges will hear your brief oral presentation, and question you directly. We will announce their selection of the TWO Ying Scholars Sunday afternoon at the Science Fest Awards Ceremony.
The Ying Scholar Panel of judges includes PhDs and high-ranking military officers … and this year will be joined by the 2011 New York State Teacher of the Year!
